at an event Aug. 10. Two Davis appointees to the Public Employees Relations Board -- a full-time panel whose members earn $76,079 a year -- gave $500 each to the anti-recall campaign, according to financial disclosures filed with the Secretary of State's Office.
State employees may participate in political activities and donate to candidates on their own time.
Davis spokeswoman Amber Pasricha, herself a former Davis campaign staffer now in state government, said Davis appoints both Democrats and Republicans to various state panels depending on their experience, background and ideas. A staff of a dozen people makes an average of two gubernatorial appointment recommendations a day, she said.
